Use the medical EHR for prescribing and the formal medical record. Evaluate Rewire only for the guided client work around that care.
For psychiatry and therapy adjacent work
An EHR for doctors is usually built around medical documentation, orders, and billing. That is appropriate. But psychiatrists and physicians doing therapy adjacent work may also need a clearer view of what a patient practices, notices, or chooses to share between visits.
For most physicians, the medical EHR remains the source of truth for diagnoses, medications, labs, prescribing, and required medical documentation. Rewire EMDR should not be treated as a replacement for those functions.
Its role is narrower. A physician providing psychotherapy, coordinating with a therapist, or using guided regulation work can use Rewire to structure client activity between visits. Completion, SUD context, and deliberately shared journals can give the next conversation a more specific starting point.
That division should be explicit in your workflow. Decide what belongs in the medical record, what belongs in Rewire, and what needs to be summarized across systems. Two systems without a clear rule create more risk, not more clarity.

Define ownership when physicians and therapists share a case. Each role needs clear permissions and documentation responsibility.
Tell clients what is visible, what is private, and whether information will be summarized into another chart.
Check whether a second workspace saves enough follow up time to justify another login and another process.
Questions clinicians ask
No. Rewire does not replace a medical EHR for prescribing, labs, orders, or comprehensive physician documentation.
Potentially, especially when psychotherapy or guided between session work is part of care. The physician should define how information is documented in the primary medical record.
Rewire EMDR is not positioned as an e prescribing system. Physicians should continue using an appropriate medical EHR or prescribing platform.
The workspace can show assigned activity, completion, SUD context, and journal entries that the client chooses to share.
Write a clear rule for which system holds the official record, what gets summarized, who has access, and how urgent information is handled.
